Morning Jenny
I’ve just come back from the fertility clinic.
It’s day 2 of my cycle so I went in for a scan – all is well – and received all the medication I am going to be taking.
The fertility Sister showed me how to do the injections and it wasn’t at all as bad as I thought it would be! Relief!
So I’ll be taking all the meds from today and then going back for a scan next week Friday. Let’s hope all goes great from here on.

Hi jenny,
All good so far, tested positive a week ago and 2nd blood test also looked good! So very very happy. We have the first scan in 2 weeks so hopefully all is good then, though taking it day by day at the moment. From the blood test it doesn't look like twins, but hopefully we have a healthy baby in the end, which is all we could wish for.
It's definitely been an emotional process and thanks for everything along the way. We'll keep you in touch with our progress, hopefully it will all be good.

We are expecting triplets and found out on Friday that it is 2 boys & a girl. I’m almost at 18 weeks and everything is going very well.
The due date is 15th November if all goes well. All three babies are healthy and show no signs of abnormalities etc… and they are very busy babies…moving around a lot inside.
I’m doing well, not craving anything YET, and I get the occasional nausea and I already have swollen ankles. I get tired too, but the Dr. said this is normal especially in multiple pregnancies.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for what you are doing for us, and to introduce ourselves.
We are both 39, having married two and a half years ago and living in Cape Town. J is English and grew up in SA; she came to Cape Town on a work contract and loved it so much she stayed. G is born and bred in Cape Town, but ironically worked abroad for several years while J was first over in Cape Town! Our paths finally crossed via mutual friends in Cape Town, through us both being in financial management.
We were both raised in loving and supportive homes with several siblings each. Family and friends are very important to us, and our lives are enriched by their support. We feel privileged to have enjoyed good educations, but have also learnt life’s other lessons of hard work, commitment and balancing it all with a good sense of humour.
We love the outdoors and travelling, and both seem to have an adventurous spirit. We enjoy sport (G especially loves tennis and touch rugby) and try to stay active, but also enjoy spending quality time at home with a good book or movie - and Jacqui loves cooking. Eating out and socialising with our friends is often high on our agendas.
We love and care about each other and base our relationship on the foundations of trust and respect, and keep the love alive by having a good laugh together.
We have tried for several years to have a child without success. It was heartbreaking to learn that J's eggs would not produce children. We want to assure you that this child would be raised with unconditional love. We believe that the opportunity to receive a donor egg is truly a heavenly gift.
We would like to again express our deepest gratitude to you. What you are willing to do to help someone else is beyond charity. You have a big heart and it is hard to imagine how to thank a person for providing such a precious gift. You are a very special person.

I had the transfer on the 12 May and it was all emotions and nerves since then. But I had my pregnancy test done yestrerday, and I am pregnant!

Hi Jenny,
I had two embryo's transferred on 27th March 2010 thanks to my generous egg donor.
I have had a bit of a rough time these past two weeks. A scan showed two heart beats last week after I had some bleeding. This week only one distinct heartbeat is present and it looks like I have lost one of the embryos. I am okay with this as at least I know what caused the bleeding. The obstetrician says that this is unlikley to effect the other embryo but I am still early days as far as risk of misscarriage.
I do have mixed emotions as part of me is sad at the loss but another part is releaved. After two heartbeats confirming twins I began to experience huge anxiety about whether I would cope with twins.
So I continue to pray and hope all will be well with the remaining baby.
I will keep you informed.

Good day Jenny
Sjoe but the time is flying. I wanted to wait until all the uncertainty is over. Everybody are telling me I have to wait until 12 weeks. I could not I am not 11 weeks and can not contain myself anymore.
Hubby and I went to go and see the Dr last week Thursday I was 11 weeks and the Dr are on his rounds travelling this week. Therefore my 12 week scan and tests have to stay until next week. It feel so long.
I am sure I will survive. ha ha ha.
Hubby and I are over the moon - we can not contain ourselves it is such a miracle and blessing from God after so many years of prayed and begging from God. If finally happened. It feel nearly to good to be true - but we trust and know it is Gods will eventually for us also to receive a little blessing.
It has finally happened and we are praising God for it.

Well, we had our 6 week scan on Tuesday (a bit late because of the Easter weekend) and we saw this little heart beating away! It is a miracle happening, so overwhelming to think that there are 2 hearts beating inside me right now…. But the nausea doesn’t let me forget it for too long. Whoever thought morning sickness would be so welcome! We had our positive pregnancy test on the 22nd of March and for the next 2 weeks until we did the scan, I kept doing tests at home just to make sure – I couldn’t believe it was true, and was feeling so good I was wishing the morning sickness would come my way. Anyway we thank God and our egg donor every single day for this blessing. Please let her know our wonderful news and we will certainly keep you in the loop. Hi Jenny Just wanted to let you know that I went for the egg retrieval yesterday. It went great. A new record of 12 eggs! Since this was my last time I was really happy that things went so smoothly. I really have a good feeling about this, since usually I am sore for about 2 days, but this time I cant even feel that I went for the procedure. I have been praying non-stop for the intendent family to receive good news in 2 weeks time. Could you please convey a message to the receipients for me? Ek trippel die gang af verby die baba-kamer in tannie Rethea se huis. Ek is eintlik opsoek na mamma om te vra vir ‘n roomys. Daar hoor ek mamma se stem, sy is ook in die baba-kamer. Ek loer om die deur wat ‘n skrefie oopstaan en hoor mamma se: “Sus, noudat jy ‘n baba het, is jy ‘n ware vrou”. Wat “ware vrou” beteken weet ek tog nie, ek wil net nou ‘n roomys he. Wat weet ‘n 5 jarige, langbeen, blondekop dogtertjie van die grootmens-lewe af?
In my lewe het baie tannies “ware vrouens” geword. Mamma het 5 jaar later weer ‘n “ware vrou” geword toe ek al 10 jaar oud was, met my susie. Nadat ek geleer het van bytjies en blommetjies het die “ware vrou” begin vorm aanneem, veral met daardie “ouma se rooi karretjie” wat elke maand kom kuier het en jy moet die skool se swemlesse uitsit…..
Die langbeen, blondekop meisiekind het verander in ‘n jong dame, liefde van haar lewe ontdek en getrou. Magties, maar is die lewe lekker? Manlief wil nie nou baba’s grootmaak nie en ek is nog lekker jonk…. Hoekom daaroor bekommerd wees….?
Jy weet mos hoe werk die lewe…. Wanneer jy kruip, vra almal wanneer loop jy, wanneer jy loop, wil almal he jy moet hardloop, begin jy skool met graad 1, wil almal weet wanneer is jy klaar met skool. Wanneer die skooljare klaar is – dis natuurlik jare terug – wil almal weet wanneer trou jy. Trou jy wel, wil almal weet wanneer kom die kinders. Stop. Wat ? Ekskuus ? KINDERS ???
Na 1 jaar van getroud wees: Wanneer kom die baba? Is jy al swanger?
Na 5 jaar van getroud wees: Beplan julle nie ook ‘n gesin nie? Is jy nog nie swanger nie?
Na 10 jaar van getroud wees: Hoe lank wil julle nog wag voor julle ook begin? Almal van julle ouderdom het al kinders.
Na 15 jaar van getroud wees: Wil julle nie kinders he nie? Hoekom neem julle nie kinders aan nie?

Dokter na Dokter. Ginekoloog na Ginekoloog. Fertiliteitskliniek afsprake. Jaar-in en jaar-uit. Teaters ken ek al so goed soos my eie slaapkamer. Hoeveel geld kan en moet ek julle nog betaal? Inspuitings. Pille. Bloedtoetse. Mensturasie.
Maand na maand lewe ek van siklus tot siklus.
Dag 1 : Menstrasie - Verplettering, trane, hartseer en vernedering oorheers elke sekonde.
Dag 12: Dalk is die eiertjie groot genoeg. Dalk bevrug die eier vandag. Hoop en bid.
Dag 28: Swangerskaptoets vroegmore. Ek hoor die dokter se: “nie die maand nie miskien volgede maand.”

Ek is nie ‘n ware vrou nie.
Ons is nie baie wel af nie en geld is maar skraps op tye, so betaal ons geld net vir ‘n stukkie HOOP. Elke maand wonder ek is dit nou dat ek n ware vrou sal wees.
Weet jy wat is die ergste:
Mense wat jou vertel dat hul so vreeslik “gesukkel” het om swanger te raak. Net om aan die einde van die gesprek te hoor sy het na 3 maande van probeer skielik swanger geword. Dit laat my ongeskik opstaan en uit ‘n vertrek stap. Arme siel. Jy weet nie waarvan jy praat nie.
Of: Iemand vertel jou (jou van alle mense!!) wanneer ‘n vrou ovuleer. Hoe om gemeenskap met jou man te he om kinders te wek. Watter pilletjies om te sluk ! Shame.
Nog ‘n maand. Nuwe hoop.
Januarie & Februarie 2010 is weer ‘n hoopvolle siklus, maar die maand is anders, ek gaan ‘n perfecte eiertjie van ‘n persoon met onbaatsigtige liefde kry. Sy lyk baie soos ek, en ek kan sien sy het ‘n groot hart en gee om vir mense. Die keer gaangaan dit werk. Ek weet.
My hoop begin waarin daar
Dag 1 vir my was: 22 Januarie 2010. Ek het inspuitings begin kry (elke oggend).
Dag 1 vir jou: 8 Februarie 2010. Dis die dag wat jy begin met dieselfde inspuitings as wat ek neem.
Dag van jou eerste scan (ek dink die 16de) kom nadir. Ek sal so baie aan jou dink daardie dag.
“Dag 12”: ek dink 22 Februarie 2010. (die uithaal van die eiertjies). Dis my absolute hoop. Jy is die antwoord op my doellose, saai lewe, babalose lewe.
Liewe skenker, jy is die persoon wat God op hierdie aarde geplaas het met ‘n doel. Nooit het jy ooit besef dat jou doel op aarde juis hier en nou is nie. Jy besef dalk nie nou dat jy geroep is en dat jy ‘n medemens “ware vrou” gaan maak nie.
Woorde is hol. Woorde van dank is plat.
Woorde werk eenvoudig nie in ‘n tyd soos hierdie nie.
Hoe kan ek jou bedank?

I am so extremely grateful to my donor for what she has done for me – it has to be one of the most gracious & generous things one woman can do for another……after all, only a woman can understand another woman’s longing for a child. It was suggested that I write you a letter when I went into hospital for the egg transplant – which as you know I didn’t do. I didn’t at the time as I felt that at that point it would not mean as much as I believe it does now.
A very heartfelt thank you from both my husband and I for the precious gift that you have given us. I found the previous disappointments/failures heartbreaking and didn’t want to get too excited until I reached twelve weeks. I can now tell that I am thirteen weeks (and a day) pregnant and I think I have a beautiful little boy on the way. Although two eggs were put back only one egg took. We would have loved twins (as my age makes it difficult to consider another pregnancy) but we are blessed and over the moon that we have one piece of precious cargo on its way. We may still consider another baby but I think we need to experience this little one first.
As I said earlier I think it’s a boy. I have always believed that a soul chooses it’s parents and for almost 25 years have believed that a little boy was looking for me. At my twelve week scan the doctor did everything to try and see what I had but he kept his little legs firmly crossed and refused to open them for us. He has the most beautiful little face with the cutest little nose and lips – he already looks gorgeous. He is a very busy little chap and doesn’t keep his hands or feet still for a minute. The doctor thinks that it’s 90% a boy but my next appointment at the end of the month will confirm what it is.
Thank you cannot convey our appreciation but I would like you to know that we are deeply grateful and cannot wait for our baby to arrive. I wish you great happiness and the opportunity to experience the joy that I am currently experiencing.

| New Parents of Twins
Dear friends
Just a short email to let you know that our long-awaited twins were born by caesarian section at 6.17am and 6.15am respectively on Tuesday 17 February 2009. G weighed a hefty 2.2kg, while L was 1.96kg, and so was put into ICU and later into high care at the hospital for a week until she reached the critical 2kg mark.
G is dark with a thin face and big eyes, just like his dad, while L has a round face, strong chin and is fair. G is very laid back and hardly ever cries, while L is more of a handful and has alot of attitude, as the hospital staff put it! Both parents think the twins are exquisite.
We are all at home now and doing well. We are finding being parents both taxing and rewarding, but luckily have a lot of people to help us.
